Online Health Insurance

When buying health insurance online consumers need to use due diligence and speak with a broker about the policies they are recommending. There are a lot of websites that are selling health discount policies, these policies are not worth the paper they are printed on! I have had many instances where clients have purchased these policies only to find out that they cover about $100 of a claim, and in health care that does not get you very far. There are plenty of reputable insurance brokers that sell online. Consumers need to do some research and speak to the agent/broker that is trying to sell them these policies, listed below are some questions that you can ask your broker about the policy they are recommending:

What is the coinsurance percentage?
How much is my deductible?
Can you send me an explanation of benefits?
What is the lifetime maximum of the policy?
Is my doctor in the insurance companies network?
Is my local hospital in the insurance companies network?

If the agent/broker that you are working with can answer all of these questions to your liking then you are getting a comprehensive health insurance policy. Always remember if the price of insurance seems to good to be true it probably is!

  1. These are all good things to look at when buying health insurance online. Also consumers might want to use a broker that only specializes in their state. Some large brokers sell in all states and cant offer the service and support that a local broker/agent can.
